What is a denier?
A DENIER is the unit of measurement for the thickness of the yarn used to make stockings and pantyhose.
The lower the denier number (8, 10, 15, 20, etc.), the thinner and more transparent the pantyhose. Conversely, the higher the number (40, 70, etc.), the thicker it is and the less skin is visible.
On the other hand, there are opaque microfiber tights and pantyhose, in 50 and 100 denier, which barely reveal any skin. They are commonly used in autumn and winter.
Low denier tights and pantyhose are typically used during the spring and summer seasons. They can be worn year-round, for example, for formal occasions, as their thinness makes them look more elegant.
High numbers, 40, 70..., are usually used for autumn-winter.
